奥西曼狄亚斯


一位旅人打古老的国度来,对我讲起:
“沙漠中有两条石雕的巨腿兀立,上身
已不知去向。就在近旁,沙地里,
半埋着一张损毁的脸 ,翘着唇,
蹙着眉,号令四方、不可一世之概,
看得出,匠师对其性情了然于心,
刻进死气沉沉的石头,至今栩栩如生,
那将之摹刻的妙手与匠心却早已成尘;
底座上镌镂的字句,历历可见:
‘我乃奥西曼狄亚斯,万王之王。
纵令一代雄杰,顾我功业,亦当兴叹!’
此外更无一物留存。在破败
宏伟的残迹周遭,只有满目荒凉,
平沙万里,寂寞地绵亘到天际。”

    I met a traveller from an antique land
