What happens to a dream deferred?

梦被延迟以后，会怎么样呢？

Does it dry up

它会变干

Like a raisin in the sun?

像太阳下的葡萄干？

Or fester like a sore–

或者像伤口一样溃烂——

And then run?

然后蔓延开来？

Does it stink like rotten meat?

它会像腐肉一样发出恶臭？

Or crust and sugar over–

或者长出硬皮，并洒上糖——

like a syrupy sweet?

就像一块果汁糖？

Maybe it just sags

也许它只会往下陷，

like a heavy load.

就像负了重荷。

Or does it explode?

或者它会爆炸吗？
