Once regrets come to mind

Merely looking back on life he had regrets

plum blossoms fall

And plum blossoms would be snowing down

Like watching her swim to the other shore

Such as watching her swim to the other side of the river

Like climbing a pine ladder

Such as climbing a pine wood ladder

There is beauty in danger

Danger can indeed strike you as beauty

Why not watch her return on horseback

Not though as watching her return from a horse ride

cheeks warm

With fiery cheeks

with shame. Head bowed, she answers the Emperor

Bashful. Bowing her head, responding to the emperor

A mirror awaits her forever

A mirror is since long set up for her

Let her take her usual place in the mirror

Let her then sit in the mirror, where she uses to sit   

looking out the window, once regrets come to mind

Looking out of the window, merely to remember life and regret
